Drainage Solutions

Standing water and erosion problems get worse the longer they sit — we diagnose the actual cause and solve it before it damages a foundation, patio, or lawn.

Overview

How we approach drainage solutions.

Standing water, soggy lawn areas, and erosion are almost always symptoms of a grading or drainage problem somewhere upstream — not something a landscaping fix alone solves. We start by identifying where the water is actually coming from and where it needs to go, rather than treating the symptom where it happens to be visible.

Depending on the site, the fix might be regrading, a French drain, a dry creek bed, a catch basin and buried pipe system, or some combination — sized correctly for the property so the problem doesn’t just move a few feet and reappear.

What's included

What matters in a drainage solutions project.

  • Diagnoses the actual source of the water problem, not just the visible symptom
  • Solutions sized for the property’s real drainage volume, not a generic fix
  • Protects other hardscape and structures on the property from water damage over time
  • Can be designed to blend into the landscape — dry creek beds, buried systems — rather than looking utilitarian

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have a drainage problem versus just a wet season?

If an area stays wet well after rain has stopped, or the same spot floods every time it rains, that’s usually a drainage issue worth assessing rather than normal seasonal moisture.

Will a drainage fix damage my existing lawn or landscaping?

Some disruption is normal during installation, but we plan the work to minimize it and restore the affected area afterward.

Can drainage work be combined with a retaining wall or patio project?

Yes, and it often should be — see Retaining Walls for how the two frequently overlap.
